This is the first of a series of paintings based on yellow. This painting began as a sunset sea painting but then my subconscious took over and the low clouds became mountains bathed in golden light. The colors were blocked in with a sponge to get the mass of the shapes and some of the values. Artist quality paints manufactured by Golden, Liquitex and Stephen Quiller were used, Cadmium Yellow Light (just a touch for the cooler yellows), Quinacradone Gold, Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, Dioxazine Purple and gesso for white.
